In a spirit of cooperation and renewal, the Annual Tactical General Assembly of the Hellenic Association of Brewers took place on Thursday 10th April, during which its members elected a new Management Committee, as the three-year term of the previous one expired.
Immediately afterwards, the Management Committee was constituted, electing Mr. Pantelis Kougios from the microbrewery VAP P. Kougios of Rhodes as the new President.
The new President thanked the members for their trust and expressed his thanks to the outgoing President Mr. Sofoklis Panagiotou, co-owner of Septem Microbrewery & Elixi Microbrewery, and the Management Committee for its contribution in promoting important issues of the industry, such as: the consultation on the modernization of the beer legislation, the rational payment of the reduced excise duty on beer, the introduction of the Visiting Brewery Label, the support of the Beer Festival in Athens and the “Open Breweries” initiative, which has become an annual institution of the Hellenic Brewers Association.
He also stressed that the new Committee, which is composed of representatives of large and smaller breweries from various regions of Greece, is committed to continue the work of the Association in a united and dynamic manner.
The main orientation of the new management is to strengthen the position of the Brewery Sector and to further cultivate the beer culture in Greece. He highlighted that the overall contribution of the sector to the Greek economy is of key importance, as well as its close interconnection with the primary sector, which reinforces the cyclical return of wealth to the Greek land.
