The bar show in Berlin is beeing held every year since October 2007. The Bar Convent Berlin is an attraction for bartenders, not only of Europe but also of the rest of the world, being the top of the continent and one of the best in the world. Certainly during the exhibition, there is a lot of interest to see. A trip to Berlin, however, cannot leave anyone unmotivated. Let’s see what anyone who visits Berlin during Bar Convent Berlin, can see and do, whether it’s the first or just one more visited.
-1-
Visiting Bar Convent Berlin means meeting and networking with colleagues and producers around the world. Tasting and expanding its options can be endless. My suggestion is to try what you do not know. You are not sure if you will have the opportunity to taste something again. Don’t be shy to ask, learn! It is not a report to ascertain the level of knowledge you got, but to develop it. Tip: Have business cards with you.
-2-
A walk through the coffee and beer areas means contact with different cultures and distinct personalities. Don’t rush to downgrade these two separate points at Bar Convent Berlin. Not a big industry showcase, Coffee Convent as well as Brew Berlin has something to offer as they are part of every business and modern bar.
-3-
A visit at the stand of Mixology, the magazine published by the people who organized the first Bar Convent Berlin. Talk about their philosophy, see their excellent magazine, which -unfortunately for some- is only published in German. The previous day of the Bar Convent Berlin you can go to the Mixology Bar Awards. Search for a ticket online, for one of the biggest bartending galas, stand between great personalities and rising, ambitious colleagues from around the world.
-4-
Visit the BRLO Brewery right next to the exhibition venue. Events usually take place during the days of Bar Convent Berlin. Take advantage of it and get to know the people of BRLO.

Berlin has a nightlife, it is not sleeping! Check out the guest bartendings available in the city and choose which ones to go to. A unique experience in case the bar which is hosted comes from far away.

You are not fans of guest bartendings? Berlin has many good bars. Visit some of them. I’m definitely visiting my favorite Victoria Bar (here’s what I wrote in the past), but don’t leave out a walk from Green Door, Salut! Classic Bar, Stagger Lee. This year I will be visiting Küche Bar, Velvet Bar and Bar Wagemut. For those who are not used to wait outside, be patient, we are not the only ones to go…

Of course, there are many places for beer. I recommend Hopfenreich with my favorite emblem, the hedgehog, then the Dolden Mädel and Brewdog Berlin Mitte. If you are hungry it is important to combine them with food, especially if they will precede the bar hopping.

Berlin has great places to eat. Start at the top at Hugos Restaurant or Funkturm (Radio Tower) Restaurant. Next to the river Spree in Kreuzberg is the Freischwimmer, while in the centre is Rutz Winebar and near the zoo area is Weinbar Lutter & Wegner at Weinhaus Huth. For more mainstream dining I recommend Einsunternull and Friedel Richter with emphasis on new German cuisine and the fusion restaurant Dae Mon with Asian influences, all centrally located and within walking distance of each other.

In the mostly historic now. First, visit the Brandenburger Tor, the Parliament (Reichstag), then the Checkpoint Charlie and the Berlin Wall monument and of course the Holocaust Memorial ‘Denkmal für die ermordeten Juden Europas’ and Jewish Museum (Jüdisches Museum).
-10-
For a more relaxed day or night, start with the view from Fernsehturm (the tower of the television in liberal translation ), continue to the Berliner Dom, walk and shop at Kurfürstendamm, see the Charlottenburg Palace and of course don’t miss -unless you’re staying close – a walk from Alexnaderplatz (where the tower is) and Potsdamer Platz. A walk in the botanical garden (Botanischer Garten & Botanisches Museum) is refreshing.
-11-
For cultural lovers now. Start with the UNESCO Heritage Site the Neues Museum and the East Side Gallery along the Spree River. Visit the Museum of Natural History (Museum für Naturkunde) and the renowned KDW-Kaufhaus des Westens Shopping Center (Department Store of the West) ). For friends of fashion photography and not only, a visit to the Helmut Newton Foundation in the zoo area is a must go.

This is for football fans, for two reasons. If you have arrived at the weekend I would strongly recommend searching if there is a Bundesliga match. The first reason is the historic Olympic Stadium of Berlin, home to Herta Berlin. The second reason is the An der Alten Försterei Stadium home pf the newly promoted to Bundesliga, 1. FC Union Berlin, a small stadium -needs a train to reach from the center- east of central Berlin, builted in 1920!
