It is one of the most famous beers in Greece. For years, Kaiser Pilsner has been the first choice for those who want a bitter blonde to accompany their food or enjoy it in moments of relaxation. It is one of the most classic choices in terms of pilsner category. Bitter, with carbonate and golden blond. I could stop here and claim that I’m done, but Kaiser Pilsner is a label that can be written and said a lot.
In 1976 a new label was launched by the brewery founded earlier in Greece in 1968, Henninger Hellas SA. Today, Kaiser Pilsner is brewed with the permission and technical supervision of Henninger Bräu AG Frankfurt am Main, from Olympic Brewery in Sindos, Thessaloniki, maintaining all its characteristics, based on the German tradition of pils production. From her first appearance on television in 1979 until today, Kaiser Pilsner tries and manages to arouse interest. Many of its TV campaigns have left an era, while it is not uncommon for stars of the time to be the face of them. Do not forget the slogan: “Beer or Kaiser”!
Kaiser Pilsner is served in a glass, cold and not frozen, to offer us the characteristic bitterness of pils and the carbonate that makes them special. If we consume it from a bottle, in addition to the fact that the enjoyment will not be complete, we risk drinking a little of the aluminium foil around the bottleneck. In a glass, it gives us a white foam of medium to long duration, golden blond, clear body with the bubbles playing their own game. The first fragrance that comes to the nose is the roasted blond malt, sweet aromas followed by notes of fruit, hops and plant aromas. In the mouth, it is bitter and slightly dry. We feel the hops as the sweetness is limited. The carbonate fills the mouth. The body is light. Aftertaste, is short and bitter.
I would like it to have a longer aftertaste and a little more intense bitterness. I would also like those who drink Kaiser Pilsner to match it with foods that enhance its taste, such as sausage and cheese platters, dishes with batter or breadcrumbs, see fried squid or schnitzel. Of course, a beer that suits every occasion and place, from bars to restaurants.
Kaiser Pilsner was distinguished in 2019 and 2020 with the silver award in the Pilsner category of the Greek Beer Awards. Available in 330ml and 500ml bottles and cans, 30lt kegs and 20lt barrels of Draught Master technology.
